My daughter goes to bed around 11 and usually does not get up until noon the next day. She sleeps on the sofa and it is sort of distracting because we don't want to wake her up and our house is small and there is only 1 TV. I like to watch news in the morning and she is always sleeping. What should I do? When I put her in the crib she doesn't sleep, she likes the couch. My daughter has started to sleep around 13 hours a day and I cant figure out why. Is this healthy?
You will have to train her to sleep in her crib and not on the couch. You will have to put up with the crying and little fits this will cause but she is better off in a crib. Too easy to fall off the couch. My oldest son and my youngest would not sleep much at once time. Drove me crazy. But my second son slept all night the first night I brought him home from the hospital. I jumped out of bed and ran into his room thinking something was wrong. Nothing was wrong, he just slept a lot. He would go out and play and I would find him curled up in the stairwell fast asleep. Taking a nap. LOLMy daughter has started to sleep around 13 hours a day and I cant figure out why. Is this healthy?
Since you mention a crib, I assume your daughter isn't that old yet. So 13 hours of sleep is fine. My daughter is almost 3 and sleeps about 10-11 hrs, from about 10 pm to about 9 am, and still takes about an hour nap at 1pm. I wouldn't be too concerned with it.
Edit: After talking to my mother she mentions maybe your daughter likes the noise. Have you tried putting her to bed in her crib with a radio in the background. I have an 11 year-old brother that likes to fall asleep to the TV for the light and noise. Or maybe she's ready for a toddler bed instead of the crib.
this is normal, they need lots of sleep when they are young, sometimes it just isn't all at once like your daughter. you just need to let her sleep the amount of sleep that her body needs, or else you are going to have an unhappy, and possibly unhealthy baby.
But if you want to be extra sure, just consult your pediatrician.
she's fine! Count your blessings!! Your little sweetie is going through a growth spurt. don't wake her prematurely because she will FIT the rest of the day, I know, my little Einstine needs 13 hours of sleep too. He is 13 mo.
