How to figure out how much taxes we might get back/owe for 2008?

My husband got a high paying job in May and now we are in a higher tax bracket. we both file 1-married. we do get taxed a lot and are expecting some money back, but I really want to know about how much. Can I figure that out by looking at the statements for the past 8 months instead of waiting for W2's?How to figure out how much taxes we might get back/owe for 2008?
Look at your pay stubs to figure out what your gross income will be for the year. You can also figure out how much they will have taken out for federal income taxes.

Next, get an approximate amount for your deductions. you will get about $3500 deduction for every dependent (you, your husband, plus your kids). The other major deduction you will have (if you own a house) is the interest on your mortgage. Look at your last statement to figure out what amount is interest and multiply by 12 for your approximate deduction.

Subtract all your estimated deductions from your estimated gross income to get your estimated taxable income.

Then use the calculator on the website listed below to determine your approximate tax.

After you know your tax, compare it to the amount that is being deducted from your paychecks to see if you will get a refund or if you will owe more, and you can compute the approximate amount of your refund or the amount you will owe (so you can start saving for it).

This should get you within a few hundred dollars of knowing what your refund will be. How to figure out how much taxes we might get back/owe for 2008?
Look at your pay stubs, and estimate the earnings and withholdings for the rest of the year. Then fill out a return - use last year's forms and instructions, since the 2008 ones aren't available yet. It won't be exact but should be fairly close.
Approximate your annual from the statements ,

Look up the bracket on the charts

But remember you have deductions . . .

That is just your AGI .
