How do you figure out winning percentage in soccer (or any sport), when it comes to ties? ties = .5?

With a soccer record of 12-5-1 would you go 12.5 divided by 18 or 12 divided by 17 or 18. Let me know what you. I have also counted it as a half point for a tie, but as I do my record books I want to know for sure. ThanksHow do you figure out winning percentage in soccer (or any sport), when it comes to ties? ties = .5?
Winning percentage is the percentage of games won, not including ties. Wins divided by total games.

In sports that have ties, standings are usually done with a point system. For example, NHL hockey, back when there used to be ties, it was 2 for a win, 1 for a tie, and 0 for a loss. Some sports put more emphasis on winning, some give consolation points for losing in overtime, etc.

So, the best way to keep a soccer record book is to use whatever point system is in use in your league, rather than win percentage.
