How do you figure out which carbons are the chiral carbon atoms in a carbon chain picture?

like they gave me this %26amp; asked for me to circle the chiral atoms...also are there any tricks to learning about chiral carbons?

Any carbon atom with 4 different substituents around it is a chiral carbon - in this case, the middle carbon has an -H substituent, a -Cl substituent, a -CH2Cl substituent and a CH3 substituent, so the middle carbon is chiral.

Hope that helps! How do you figure out which carbons are the chiral carbon atoms in a carbon chain picture?
Chiral carbons are carbons that have four different groups bonded to it. your drawing is kinda confusing to me so I cant really say which is chiral.
