Why do parents that can't figure out how to help their children turn to medecine as a cure?

When a child needs attention or just going throught different changes and stages is it right for a parent to pump them full of meds instead of being a parent? What solutions come from using meds instead of Love and patience to cure ailments in children? God bless all who understand!Why do parents that can't figure out how to help their children turn to medecine as a cure?
Its very difficult for many parents to admit they dont know what to do or try. So when a doctor offers a pill to make things better many parents will try it. Its far easier to give a kid a pill then be consistent or get to the root of issues. In this day and age far too many doctors are willing to label children without any real testing and then hand over a prescription. Sometimes a pill is necissary but in most cases i dont think its the right answer. Before people give me thumbs down i want to explain that i have a child with ADHD, ODD and OCD. We work damn hard to teach him to behave and deal with his issues instead of masking them or changing him. He will need to know those things throughout life. And the methods we use have worked well. Realistic expectations and real parenting can be the best assets a child has.Why do parents that can't figure out how to help their children turn to medecine as a cure?
I certainly can not say it any better than *KitKat* did.

Many parents simply do not have the knowledge, understanding and the unending patience it takes to help their children overcome such difficulties.

I too am a parent of a child who has had to overcome difficulties. While some of her difficulties can not be ';fixed'; by a pill, she does struggle with OCD. We also chose not to medicate and to help her through behavior modification and education, so she has a true understanding of who she is. It has worked beautifully and she has finally come to a point where she will stop (and even laugh at herself) and say, ';OK, this is not necessary.';
It depends on what the problem is and the extent of the problem. A lot of people assume that parents do not try other things and just decide to shove medication down their child's throat. In most cases the parents have exhausted all other techniques and have thought it over very carefully before opting for medication. Sometimes medication is needed because love and patience can't fix everything.
lack of knowledge. I read that its wrong to spoil a child with hugs and affection. they'll raise nothing else than a sociopath. I'm wondering when will the society start thinking.

medicine only helps in severe cases. it doesnt sound good to rely on medication whenever something goes wrong.
I don't know, some things are better helped with medication ya know. So this is from an adult perspective but when I suffered from depression, drugs made me better, I wont hesitate to use them if it happens again.
