Why was Michelangelo an example of a Renaissance figure?

Like with his sculptures, paintings and architectural work?

Thanks! Why was Michelangelo an example of a Renaissance figure?
He converted his art style back to naturalism. Why was Michelangelo an example of a Renaissance figure?
The definition of a Renaissance Man is a man who has broad intellectual interests and is accomplished in areas of both the arts and the sciences. Michelangelo was a painter, sculptor, archetect, poet, engineer and inventor. His versatility in any discipline he under took was above the norm. He ushered in new ideas and inventions that we stand in awe of even today with all our modern technologies. His intellect was such, you have to wonder where he could take us if he existed in our time. He pushed the boundaries of what was known and accepted in the arts and science to see how much further he could take them.
