I want to have a go at making my own skating dress lol.I am only 13 but I am really keen to sew so I have a few questions.
1)Do you think its a bit ambitious for me to try and make one?
2)Got any sites that would show me how/give me a pattern? (I'm British)
3)Just any general tips, videos e.c.t?How to make my own figure skating dress?
A skating dress shouldn't be too difficult to make after you have mastered the basics of sewing, though you might not want to make anything too elaborate at first until you become more advanced. Here are several skating dress patterns that you can buy: http://skatingdresspatterns.com/
And for tips and help this is a great website: http://sewing.patternreview.com/How to make my own figure skating dress?
You can buy from the link I gave you before, I checked and they do ship internationally. They also have retailers in Europe, this one is in the UK and has the entire line of their patterns. http://www.habithat.co.uk/index.php/cPath/46 Report Abuse
I don't fully make my own but i do customize alter and personalize my own. I often buy normal or theatrical fashions and adapt for skating. Another tip is to buy simple skating clothes on ebay and add sequins rhinestones and ribbons, or even applique designs on them.
It might be a bit ambitious unless you have already done a lot of sewing.
Why don't you buy a cheap plain dress or leotard (ebay is a good place to look, but you'd need to get an adult to do the actual buying for you) and customise it?
